This is one of the most accessible work among the works of Adorno . I know many goodreads friends who loathe adorno for his elitist tone and hardness of his text.I assure them it have less difficulties comparing with his other works. This is the best text for people to start who are unfamiliar with adorno's works.Unlike his other works Adorno here talks about contemporary topics like public opinion, free time, Renaissance of religion, television, progress and the topics which interest learners like me on how to be a philosopher,What it takes to be genius, how to think? Many more interesting stuff. As usual Excellent stuff. I will write a detailed review soon.

I can definitely understand why the students during the uprisings found little use for Adorno. To the extent that he had anything to say, it was almost always knee-deep in a form of idealism that put more faith in thought and clarifying concepts within the confines of the university. Most critics of capital understand action and struggle as a means by which our concepts and theories may be refined. Adorno views most action, and involvement within an organization, as a subordination of the very important idea of the "individual". The age in which he was writing was one where the expansion of capital seemed unlikely to cease and his offering in response is the valorization of the "individual", with the "collective" being written off as a sort of rabble that merely hollers at the impenetrable wall of capital with no hope of actually bring it down.
