Review # 2 was written on 2014-03-11 00:00:00 Jasmin P Bratrsovsky In my mind Pablo Neruda absolutely belongs in the pantheon of some of the greatest poets to ever live and write upon the earth. I have yet to come across a Neruda poem that does not contain at least one line that I didn't instantly vow to memorize. His is the beautiful originality that makes humanity seem so alive and free. I now vow to finish reading this book because (1) I hope it helps me to understand my Chilean wife a little better, (2) I have a little girl who is half-Chilean, (3) we are leaving for Santiago in June, and (4) this is one of the most ambitious epics ever attempted, written by a poet whose words have always exceeded my highest expectations.
