Bell makes a very good job to show how theological Kant was and how Kant's ideas are relevant for theology today. He is also able to explain Kant in an understandable and coherent way and to my mind he really picks out the essentials of Kant. What comes out from this book, and what has not been so clear in some other reading on Kant, is how Kant was really particular in pointing out the limits of reason. He had a very high view of reason and had a sort of religion of reason based on the moral law. Yet, there were things reason could not do. I do wonder why some atheists for example, don't mind using Kant in terms of debunking some proofs of God, but I very rarely here them tackle Kant's critique of reason's abilities.

Not an introduction to Kant's philosophy nor his theology. More of a reflection on the usefulness of Kant's thought (primarily his ethics) from a secular/Protestant perspective. What the books lack is how Kant's thought has been picked up/ assumed by modern Protestant theologians (especially Barth). Furthermore, no mention of how modern Catholic theology has embraced/rejected Kant.
