Review # 1 was written on 2014-05-06 00:00:00 Nancy Rosborough A tour of Italy based mainly on it's ancient history and architecture. A scholarly and intellectual account,this isn't a light hearted travel book. Superb photos throughout.I enjoyed the accompanying tv series so I wanted to read the book. There's an added interest as Francesco shows us some of the lesser known places of interest people may not have heard about.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-08-22 00:00:00 Cheri Runyon I love this guy! A delightful TV series, a delightful read, fantastic pictures and of course, plenty about Venice too! If like me you love Venice and pay a pilgrimage there whenever you can, you will love this book. The historical facts are an eye opener and not something you would have seen on the tourist trail. The beauty of Venice in multi faceted, and this has become one of those facets. A pleasure to read.
