Volume 3 of "The Military History of World War 2" series written by Trevor Dupuy in 1962 is entitled "Land Battles: North Africa, Sicily, and Italy." The book provides an excellent overview of Rommel's German strategy and tactics in North Africa. It also describes Allied OperationTorch and Operation Husky responses to his strategies. These operations set the stage for Allied initiatives to take over Italy. The book's maps and pictures are outstanding.

This volume of the series: The Military History of World War II answered my question about how Africa became involved in the war. Well written and full of the details regarding the various battles which led to the Allies winning back possession of North Africa, Sicily, and Italy.
