Review # 1 was written on 2012-03-30 00:00:00 Apostolos Voutsas I'll confess I only read about half of the articles in this book, as some were not relevant to my research interests at the moment. I also found them to be rather narrow in their focus, and not particularly enlightening. For a language teacher who wishes to engage in critical pedagogy, a better place to start would be with authentic texts from the fields of Human Rights Education, Peace Education, Social Justice, Critical Discourse Analysis, etc. These give one a foundation in what it means to be critical, as well as a deeper awareness of inequity and how one participates in it, often unconsciously. Also, come on - anyone who really believes in critical pedagogy would make these articles FREE!!!
