Review # 1 was written on 2019-07-09 00:00:00 Felice Marcos Each spread shows a portion of Arnie's day at school with an insert of him at home after school relating the events to his mother. There is supposed to be humor in the juxtaposition between the two, but it just fell flat to me. Then, add to it that the mother won't have a cookie with the little boy because she's "on a new diet." But, as the story progresses, Mom picks up a cookie and Arnie pauses his narration of his day to ask Mom, "I thought you were on a diet?" and she puts the cookie back down. Then, on the last page Mom goes ahead and eats a cookie after Arnie leaves the table. It's just ridiculous and unnecessary! I assume it's meant to be humorous, but it just reinforces stereotypes and adds nothing to the story. Of course, I wasn't really a fan of the story anyway so, no, I'm not recommending this book and I won't be using it in my story times.

Review # 2 was written on 2020-07-13 00:00:00 Louis Lapointe I laughed out loud at this book which tells a first graders interpretation of his day and the pictures which show the chaos of what really happened. A good read for parents and teachers as well as kids who can differentiate between what is being said and done.
