Review # 1 was written on 2017-02-08 00:00:00 Carolyn Brown This is, without a doubt, the oddest short story collection I've ever read. While some of the pieces are wonderful bits of dragon folklore, others would have been Orientalist in the 1970s when it was first published (although maybe not called that) and one of the selections is just the text of a picture book about dragons. With a bit more curating, this could have been a great anthology; as it stands, it's an impressively uneven one. |
Review # 2 was written on 2020-03-13 00:00:00 Robert Musella This book has five chapters in it, which are easy to read for 2nd and 3rd grade levels. The pictures are vivid, and each chapter has historical information on dragons. It reveals that dragons are mythical creatures, and explains some of the origins of dragon myths. Each chapter also has a small excerpt of a true historical text about dragons, some of these are bit graphic. It is good for those wanting a chapter book, but still needing white space and pictures. |
