This is a funny story about a servant girl that loves to dance in her big red shoes. One day the master of the house told her to prepare chicken for dinner. Gracie cooks two plump chickens and realizes that the houseguest has not yet arrived so she nibbles on the food to make sure it is ready and perfect for the guest and the next thing she knows both chickens are gone; she ate them both. The only way she could think of to not get caught was to lie so she told the houseguest that the master of the house was mad that he was late so he is going to hit him; scared the guest started to run. Gracie then tells the master that the guest took both the chickens and ran. So while the master is chasing the houseguest Gracie is in the bed sleep. I don't really care for this book because I think it promotes lying, but it is comical and has lots of colors.

I'm not a believer that every children's book needs to have a moral. However, if it is going to teach something, it should be positive! I wasn't so fond of Sassy Gracie because it seemed to promote stealing and lying. I'm sure that wasn't the author's intention. It was probably meant to be comical, but it just missed the mark.
