Right, this is certainly not a book i would reccomend to non-scientists, as it is technical. A collection of concise and self-contatined review articles of all the most cutting edge applications of Physics including Cosmology, Particle Physics, Quantum Optics, Physics and Society, Nanotechnology and others. If you have a good ground knowledge, or aren't scared of the odd equation, this will allow you to talk intelligently on alomost any Physics related topic. It is also written by great and respected scientists, such as Brian Green

A good resource for various terminology and random information however for the average reader and undergraduate it can be rather 'equationy'.
