Review # 1 was written on 2012-08-20 00:00:00 george loftis I read this book out of curiosity concerning dogs. I've never owned a dog, but my mother has one so i was curious as to what potentially is truly involved with dog care. I felt this was a solid, but slightly dated, introductory overview of many facets of dog care. This is a good book for any interested or new dog parent, but should be treated as a topical jumping off point to look into specific topics more thoroughly. Considering how comprehensive dog care is, the author did a good job in condensing just enough info for the topics he discussed to not overwhelm the reader.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-11-28 00:00:00 Charles Ross 4 Stars, Buy it I bought this kindle book because we are almost definitely getting a dog. I really wasn't happy that the book started with a history of dogs. I tried to read that section but quickly got bored and so I skipped ahead. I found the chapter on how to chose a dog very helpful. I found the chapter on what you need to get helpful. I found the chapter on food and supplements to be overly long and dry. But parts were indeed helpful. The chapter on walking and exercise is definitely helpful for this soon to be first time dog owner. As I've only had cats, I really needed this information. Grooming is a bit hard to read about in theory as I don't have a dog yet. But it's helpful. The book is nice and easy to read though the history section bored me like crazy. Overall a very useful book. Some of the later chapters are more boring and less useful but it will be handy as we start our new life with a dog in it very soon.
