Review # 1 was written on 2017-04-27 00:00:00 Jessica Jensen It was all right. If you are unaware of the beginnings of the NEA, this is not the book to read. This is more for those who already understand the culture of government and politics. Start with "Arts In Crisis" first. The writing quality definitely disintegrates towards the end. In fact, it was too rushed and wasn't at all cohesive. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-07-23 00:00:00 Paul Sasso Essential reading for those interested in forming a more inclusive understanding of experimental / political art practices of the late twentieth century. Here, numerous English translations from the primary sources via manifestos, statements and essays are presented from key figures of the movement. I'm a fan of Alberto Greco and the Tucuman Arde project which is why I sought out the book. There's so much more in the book -- fascinating entry to avant-garde Argentina. |
