This is a very pretty book. It is not, however, what I expected when I bought it (sight unseen, given the author's reputation). It is a collection of illustrations from the various town designs that Duany had been involved in, with some essays by other architects, praising Duany and Plater-Zybeck for their greatness and glory. While I happen to agree in general, there's simply not much meat here, and while some of the illustrations of design elements are interesting, the book was way overpriced for what you get. I'd still recommend Suburban nation over this- that is an essential read for anyone who cares about the future of this nation. This is optional even for the most die hard new-urbanism enthusiast.

Arduous read for the most part.
