I just finished reading this very informative book. John T. Woolley's Monetary Politics, is truly a treasure-trove of information, not just because of the author's writings, in and of themselves, but also because of the amazing bibliography and source material that has been very diligently collected. I discovered this book mostly on accident, after developing an interest in the Federal Reserve. This work, as well as William Greider's Secrets of the Temple, are meant to serve as primers for a much larger study of the System that I intend to subject myself to when I begin reading Allan Meltzer's History of the Federal Reserve. I actually found this book online, when searching for writings on the subject, and then realized that Willam Greider had referenced this work several times in Secrets. I figured this would be good supplementary reading, paused about halfway through Greider's work, and read this cover to cover before returning to the former. I am very happy that I did. This is required reading for anyone interested in the dynamics between the Fed and other entities such as interest groups, the Congress, and the president. The way that this work is formatted is fantastic, as the author gives a very thorough and succinct summary at the end of each chapter. This helps to make the book more digestible, and also allows for the reader to return to each of the chapters for a specific overview. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that has even a passing interest in any of the topics discussed.

Closer to 3.5 stars for an interesting social commentary. The book is almost a decade old, but it seems like we're still in the same situation.
