Review # 1 was written on 2017-05-07 00:00:00 Scot Shelley McIntosh synthesizes the development of different schools of ecology (holistic vs individualistic, plant vs animal, limnology vs oceanography). Because the book is organized thematically rather than strictly chronologically, there is some repetition. Some of the more recent concepts and ideas have changed in the thirty years since this was written, but it remains worth reading for the discussion of late 19th and early 20th century ecology. |
