Review # 1 was written on 2012-07-20 00:00:00 Adolfo Monroe This was a really neat overview of the English state in the time of Elizabeth I. In many ways, it reminded me of a standard political science book about Canada, ("The Canadian Regime," for example), but with 16th century England as the subject. Rich in detail, Smith expands upon the powers of the monarchy, Parliament, and the courts, while also discussing Aristotle's six political systems and explaining at length the development of the feudal system, the common law, and the English legal system.
