Review # 1 was written on 2012-03-27 00:00:00 Cheryl Hartmann A reasonably accessible exploration of Shakespeare's use (and abuse) of the Troy legend, and its importance in his period. I mostly read this for the chapter on Troilus and Cressida and skimmed the rest; not much that was relevant to my essay idea, but worth picking up if you're interested in Shakespeare and the Troy myth. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-12-27 00:00:00 Gidian Plebuch Seems to portray the typical well-fed liberal Englishman in his quest to make common ground with a people who have endured hardships beyond his understanding and are split between humouring him good-naturedly or rebelling against the insidious form of British influence he represents. It seems endlessly relevant. |
