Review # 1 was written on 2014-11-06 00:00:00 Justin Pinoni This book was incredibly valuable to me as, it sparked conversations with my parents which helped enlighten me on our family history. I learned that my great great maternal grand mother was one of the last residents of Bloemhof flats in District Six to be removed as she had refused multiple times. Eventually at the age of 100 she was forced to move when they flooded her apartment. At the back of this book they also give oral history guidelines which I think will be quite useful to me when conducting research in future. I'd definitely recommend this book to those who had family forcibly removed in Cape Town or anyone interested in oral history as a whole. |
