I bought this book at Mumbai airport. Knowing nothing about India before arriving there, the experience in this country immensely interests me. This book is written by Rafiq Dossani, who has lived in both India and the US. He has worked in both academic area and business. India is so similar but so different to China. This book explains to me the long way it has gone through after independence, in terms of economic development, political change and social progress. He has compared India with China and tried to find the root difference of political decision making. He talked about the corruption in India, life and dreams of its common people. A well written, richly informed book.

Every book on the market regarding India and China seems to tell about the enormous future of trade developing both between and from these two countries. I found this book and started reading - it is a good look at India, both the good and the bad. It is an easy read, it is a very informative read. Frankly, I think that this is the best (although that is quite a subjective value) of the current India books available!! So far, it is the best of the lot for books about India!
