A version of 5 Little Monkeys

Ten Little Animals is a fun change to the standard counting book. The words rhyme and tell a very good story. The story is a different take on the ten little monkeys jumping on the bed. A little boy is getting ready to read a bedtime story to his stuffed animals, when he sees that ten of his stuffed animals are jumping on the bed. One falls off, and then there are 9. Finally, all of the animals have fallen off the bed, and the doctor says "tell those animals it's time to go to bed!" The animals all get tucked in and the boy finally falls asleep. The artwork is cartoonish, but not over exaggerated. The readers of this book will enjoy the artwork, as it is very close to real life. The boy and the animals are done in great detail with water color and pencil. Ten Little Animals would work wonderfully in a storytime environment. Children will enjoy practicing their counting skills with this book. The children can call out the numbers on each page, and even name the animals that are bouncing on the bed. This book provides entertainment and educational practice in one!
