She examines and explains how a space shuttle works, what it is like to be in one, and what astronauts do in space. More specifically it discusses how Earth is studied from Space. Review: What a great informational book about Earth. This book might inspire students to learn about Sally Ride and other astronauts that have published information about our solar system. Throughout each description, Ride related her experience and is able to build in connections with the reader. The photographs used against a black background stand out and are filled with important details. Information on other planets are also provided in this book. Students can compare and contrast characteristics of Rides' findings. There is also a helpful index page, which includes many important terms such as: aurora, infrared light, ozone layer etc. This can be used as a library resource in a middle school science classroom or even in upper elementary grades with teacher guidance. This book is heavy in content.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-17 00:00:00 Leslie Ross This book is a very beautiful description of our planet, Earth, the third planet from the Sun. This is a more technical book and appropriate for high school and more mature readers. The photo images are amazing. If I were a youngster, this book would provide an impetus to study many aspects of space exploration.
