1. This book is a strictly about Ant Colonies and what it is like for the ants to live there. A colony is a hole in the ground the ants live in. There are different rooms within each colony. They are all linked together by tunnels. Not all colonies are the same. Some are big and some are small. Just like humans, ants have to work as well. The one in charge of the colony is the Queen Ant. The Queen ants are typically bigger. Although many ants do live underground within the colony, some do not. Some ants will live in dead wood or wooden walls on different buildings. 2. This book would be appropriate for about second graders. Its simple to read and many pictures are provided. 3. This book could be used for science class. 4. Students that have a desire to learn about animals and how they live would enjoy this book. 5. This can be used in small groups to work on their reading skills (in science class) then come back as a whole to discuss. 6. As a whole classroom this can be read and then turn it into some sort of science project. 7. Many books can relate to this. There are so many books that offer information about animals, especially to lower grade levels! 8. This book is a paper book. I believe it is best this way since the reading level is not very tough it will allow students to read it on their own.

Solid early science nonfiction reader. Lots of fav TSS about ants, my preschooler found it very interesting. He's now always on the hunt for red ants because he doesn't want to be stung by them.
