MONARCH BUTTERFLY from Edana Eckart and Scholastic is a small little book of 24 pages length. It is written at the 2nd Grade reading level and features very simple sentences in LARGE PRINT. Most of the pictures are great. Close-up images of a butterfly, caterpillar, eggs, and a wing. There are one or two pictures of 'flocks' of butterflies that look like they must have been old at the time of publication. But overall, engaging. This book looks rather simple for 2nd Graders, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be perfect for children who are intimidated by a lot of text. A nice little book.

I really enjoyed this book - there are just a few words on each page that rhyme, but then at the bottom of the pages there is a small paragraph that contains lots of information and gets more in-depth. It talks about the different kinds of bees and their "jobs" in the hive. There is also a section at the end of the book that gets more scientific and contains a lot more information on bees.
