A quick look on the history of Russia before the Bolsheviks Revolution. the book traced all the different races who invaded the Russian soil since the Greek founded colonies on the black sea on the 7th century B.C. to other occupiers like Slavs, Goths, Huns and lastly the Mongols. "Mongol invasion of Russia in 1238" "Prince Alexander Nevesky who led the famous battle on the ice in 1242" In 1613, The dynasty of Romanov starts, with a series of rulers who will take advantage on their subjects for more than three centuries, what will eventually lead to the communists era in Russia. nearest huntington "Emperor Nicholas II, his wife Empress Alexandra and their five children the last of Romanov family who were killed in 1917" The book was a short with a very concise view of all the historical events. A lot of episodes and important historical stages were mentioned without enough explanations for the reasons or the consequences. which left me puzzled and in need of further research to understand. On the other hand, it is considered a simplified introduction to the events that paved the way to the Bolshevik revolution in 1917.

If you like geeky food history lit you'll like this. It's academia-type writing so be warned. That said, I loved it.
