Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-10 00:00:00 Albrecht Weller I have owned this book for 11 years, now. First time I'm reading it. I struggled between giving this book a 2 or a 3. A 3 because it is okay as these books go and I got at least a couple of interesting perspectives and ideas. The 2 was a consideration because of my minor irritation with most of the people interviewed speaking about the difficulties blacks have and how disadvantaged they are in making money. I guess it must have been one of the interview questions. The book is targeted towards black America, after all. To be fair the interviewees also speak of what members the black community in general tend to do or do not do that does not aid their cause. I have a certain view of labels and generalizations that can affect how people walk into life. All in all, sound financial advice from many perspectives, black-ified. I also liked that some of the views differed, offering insights into more than one side of the concepts. It is also evidently a book written before the real-estate meltdown in recent times. |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-01 00:00:00 Ellick Erickson Incredibly informative but also really quite dull. I understand that Finance is a subject slow to inspire but perhaps Mr. Banks could've used more real life examples of finance in action rather than - all too often - referring to 'ABC co.'. If you want to have a relatively deep understanding of finance, though, I would highly recommend. |
