Review # 1 was written on 2017-12-13 00:00:00 Joseph Walek If you interested in why Napoleon eventually lost, this is the book for you. It follows the events just prior to Napoleon's abdication through to his death. The characters involved in his downfall are explored, why they acted as they did and all the political skulduggery that went with it. It is a fascinating read that shows The Ogre of Europe wasn't beaten in battle but by the deceitful activities of many people he trusted but should have shot when he had the chance. Not to mention his trusted Marshalls who were too vain and greedy to loose the honours he had given them. A sad end to a great military genius. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-04-23 00:00:00 Michael Kushla The great strength of Hamilton-Williams' book is that he takes the key players and events of a tumultuous, hard to understand period and masterfully breaks it all down for us in an engagingly well written narrative. |
