There's a ton of information here, but this is like a college text book - zero pictures & dense text. I prefer having at least some pictures/maps in my guide books. I'd recommend this if you are planning a trip a year from now, are prepared to look up things on your phone/computer while you're reading, and are going to buy another "easier" guide book to take on your actual trip (lugging this thing around in Italy seems like a non-starter).

While we were in Morocco we had the Rough guides book as we looking to visit the desert of Merzouga here where we found the you can check MERZOUGA AND ERG CHEBBI THE SOUTHERN OASIS section. We're a young couple who just got back from Morocco yesterday - we're not usually people who like to do tours (more of the do-it-yourself, spontaneous, & take-your-time-to-adventure sort of travellers) but we didn't know how else we were going to get all the way around Morocco in a week; however, after loads of crazy wanders, experiences, and sightseeing, we can easily say that the best part of our trip was our 3-day Marrakech to Fes tour with Hassan. He is such a wonderful, knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny, helpful, accommodating guide, not to mention a kind and generous person - he both guided us excellently, and let us have appropriate time to enjoy the country alone to get the true, authentic feel of Morocco - not just a tour through tourist's eyes. From being picked up right at our Riad's door in Marrakech, to driving through the Atlas Mountains and colourful valleys, walking through old Kasbahs while learning interesting historical and current facts, staying in a absolutely stunning Riad in a Gorge listening to Moroccan drum music and eating delicious Moroccan food, to spending an afternoon in a village drinking tea with local carpet-weavers, watching women make Argan Oil and Rose products, stopping at ideal places for photo opportunities and leg-stretches, to venturing out to Merzouga and the Sahara Desert where we watched sandstorms, rode camels through the vibrant orange sand dunes at sunset and sunrise, and stayed in a Berber nomad tent with a local nomad who prepared a meal just for us, to a long but very scenic and informative drive (including many peaceful stops to see villages, Kasbahs, forests, and wild monkeys) all the way up to Fes. Even when I got quite ill for our entire last day on the road, Hassan made several unplanned stops to ensure I was okay, got me calming tea, always asked if we were alright, and made sure we were comfortable in the car - he treats his passengers, in his words, as "family", and never rushed us once. We learned so much about Morocco's culture, people, religion, regions, history, and most of all, had a great, exciting, and relaxing time. - we are so glad we chose Trips In Morocco company Thank you, and we hope to be back in the future (Inshallah)!
