Review # 1 was written on 2010-03-15 00:00:00 Rod Hampton SharePoint books tend to favor the tool administrators more than the average user. This is the first book I've found for SharePoint that provides more (just a little more) than a basic introduction without requiring back-end access, SharePoint Designer, and more privileges than most corporate environments will provide. While SharePoint 2007 Collaboration for Dummies is helpful and taught me several new tricks about how collaboration is supposed to work in SharePoint 2007, I'm still waiting for a collaboration cookbook that shows how to use out-of-the-box functionality to provide good collaboration. Most of the problem is SharePoint's wide-but-shallow approach to collaboration features...the question is how to use these to better advantage. I've worked out a few solutions, I'd just like to see what others have discovered. In any case, this is a solid book suited for those with limited SharePoint 2007 knowledge and a need to collaborate. |
