I read this to gain a better understanding of the world around me and it succeeded. It delves into topics in adequate detail to understand the geologic history of the world, glaciation, islands, and more in regards to speciation. Chapter 2, which gives an overview of interesting biogeographic examples was my favorite. A particularly memorable fact was how the eastern wood peewee range is directly correlated to the 4-degree Celcius line in the US due to its metabolic cold-tolerant limits. Chapter 7 was also memorable, especially when it discussed the honeycreeper speciation in Hawaii.
