This was my Christmas-season read, and I can't quite remember now who recommended it, but it was a wonderful choice! I enjoyed the storyline (and probably would have liked it even more if I had read the 1st book in the series - I'm a stickler for reading in order!), the writing style (Ms. Markham is actually Wendy Corsi Staub, an author I already liked) and the enduring romance between Clare and Drew. I also felt the author did a remarkable job making this time-travelling novel seem so very possible, even reasonable. Finally, I have to admit that I cried several times during this heart-rending novel and I'm not usually a cry-er (is that a word?). Clare and Drew are crazily in love and very, very happy in their 3 year marraige even though they have gone through more crises than any couple should have to go through; due to the loss of Drew's investment banking job, they have relocated from Clare's native Manhatten to San Florintino, California and into their dream home with its view of the sea. Its Christmas morning and Clare has a surprise gift for Drew, just as he does for her. All is perfect, until Clare experiences her first earthquake. This sets off all kinds of scary (not "Chuckie"-style, tho!) events that led into a roller-coaster of emotional reading for me. I started TBG late last night, could hardly sleep, and took the book to work today (luckily it was S-L-O-W) so I could finish it. I run a remodeling company and today my crews probably wondered why I sat on the back porch reading and crying all day . . . Ms. Markham did a gread job filling me in so I didn't really feel like I missed anything by not reading If Only In My Dreams before this one, but after I recover from this sweet book and maybe find the man of my dreams, I plan to rectify that :)

Thought it would be interesting it wasn't ...thought it would be fun, nope not that either. Sad, boring and really an extended epilogue.
