Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-22 00:00:00 Thomas Badgett Wendell Scott, the only black driver to win a NASCAR race, is a great subject choice for a picture book biography. His determination and perseverance in the face of racism is inspriring. Sadly, this books writing didn't do his story justice. The writing is very dry and comes off as fragmented. The grammer is off, there is a lack of detail, and the idioms aren't age appropriate. Hopefully some day a children's book will come out that does Scott justice, until then this one will do.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-11-10 00:00:00 Chad Nagelkirk Great biography of the first African American to race in a national car race. The fact that he won his race and the prize was given to a white man is not surprising but very sad.
