The book opens by discussing why dogs make great pets and the different types of dogs. It then goes on to talk about puppies. The rest of the book talks about the process of choosing a dog as a pet and the steps you must follow to care for a dog. The book ends with the history of dogs. This book is written using very simplistic language, yet a student could learn a lot of information from this "all-inclusive" text. It is a text that would be great for reluctant and struggling readers who are interested in dogs!
