These are two novellas reprinted from earlier times. HIDDEN DREAMS was originally printed in 1983 and SHE WANTED RED VELVET came out in 1986. HIDDEN DREAMS suffers from being a short story and needing more time to develop the final solution. Margaret makes some life-changing decisions based on little life-experience. (3 stars) SHE WANTED RED VELVET is about a young woman (and her adopted son), running from an abusive husband right into the arms of 2 Hells' Angels-type hoodlums. Gloria Masterson is saved by a hippie-type biker. Gloria tries to start life over again at her aunt's motel in Montana. (4 stars)

Two stories by Dorothy Garlock for the price of one book. Both set in Montana. Hidden Dreams takes place in a logging camp. Margaret Anthony, a rich sheltered girl, inherits her father's holdings. She had a glimpse of a young man who ran the family logging camp several years before decided to pretend to want to check out her timber interest to get to meet the man again. The man is worried the men will be upset that she is visiting so he gives her another name and says they are engaged. Getting to know the man is happening a little too fast for shy Margaret. She Wanted Red Velvet takes place in a motel in the mountains of Montana. Gloria Masterson takes off from a possessive ex-husband in Ohio to hide at her aunt's motel. A biker, Jack Evans, with a long beard and shaggy hair keeps showing up. He doesn't have a job and lives in a ghost town in the mountains. She doesn't want anything to do with him, but her three year old son thinks he's great. Last thing she wants is to be attracted to a hippy biker.
