Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-25 00:00:00 Pranav Desai Yay! This book which includes a heavy duty technical discussion of the practice of early clamping of the umbilical cord and its significant adverse impact on newborns came out in 2004. and lo, a decade later, it is finally formally discouraged in the UK. This is a fabulous book - serious, academic but readable and with a balance of accounts from the people who matter - the mothers and the midwives who work with them - and research-derived data. It also covered a remarkable range of issues in the support of childbirth. I appreciated the respect given to issues around referencing animal experimentation and other ethically outdated or questionable practices. I felt deeply saddened to read the excellent work by two great thinkers on midwifery who died too young and be reminded of the world's loss |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-11-28 00:00:00 Karen Hoppers This is the only book I was able to find of its kind. I was beyond impressed that my disability, which is considered rare, is included. I highly recommend this for parents to be with disabilities! |
