Review # 2 was written on 2007-07-03 00:00:00 Fedor Teplukhin I didn't like this book the first time I tried to read it, but after I took 16 credits of Marxist theory during my BA, I was able to fully appreciate its substantial value. It's the author's dissertation, I believe, and is a very important contribution to disability studies as a field. The author undertook the project as an anti-racist intervention in the extremely white- and north american-dominated field of Disability Studies, and the book attempts to survey radical disability organizations and activists around the world. The entire book is grounded in Marxist theory, so familiarity with key concepts like dialectics and alienation will greatly enhance your experience of the book.
