Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-11 00:00:00 Roy Easterling Every primary teacher and family should have at least one of MacDonald's picture-books, and at least one of her story-telling books. I read this mainly for the tales and fables themselves, and loved it on that level. But there are also story-telling tips for children's librarians who do story hours, notes on the sources of the tales, an organization by type of audience participation, scholars' notes of the folktale 'types,' etc. The only thing it doesn't have is pictures, which I suppose is the main reason that most of you haven't read it yet. In my library this was in Adult Non-fiction at 372.677 (and then on the label it says M135s but I don't know what that code means). I especially love the "The Rich Man Seeks a Daughter-in-Law: A folktale from Isaan (Northeastern Thailand)." It's in the unit on "Riddle Stories" and I will be trying to find the books that are listed as sources for other riddle stories: several by George Shannon and The Cow of No Color: Riddle Stories and Justice Tales from Around the World.

Review # 2 was written on 2009-03-23 00:00:00 Sarith Lom Loads of great stories to entertain young audiences. Fantastic ideas for bringing music, drums and audience participation into the stories. I will definitely use many of these stories for my students aged 3-8. Wonderful representation of stories from all over the world.
