Review # 1 was written on 2013-03-11 00:00:00 Kimberley T Walker I've had this book on my shelf for over 30 years and I love it. The text accompanying the old photographs isn't particularly great, but the pictures themselves (over 150) are superb. The cover photograph is a wonderful portrait of a man called Robert Morvinson, a carrier and shoemaker of Lincolnshire. I find it amazing that he was born in 1775, when the United States was still a British colony, and Bonnie Prince Charlie was still alive! |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-06-28 00:00:00 John Madison This is Stein's doctoral dissertation. Stein, Husserl's protege, takes an interesting twist of Husserl's phenomenology, offering a way out of the Cartesian solipsism that has plagued modern philosophy. |
