In Sixteen Hundred And Eighty-Nine, Raven St. James And Her Mother Were Hung For Being Witches Only Raven Didn't Die And She Awoke Among The Dead Criminals And Those Who Had Died With The Plague That Killed Hundreds In Her Small Village. Raven Found Her Mother And Buried Her In The Forest Using Only Her Hands To Dig In The Snow. She Remembered Her Promise To Her Mother, But She Was Alone And Should Go To Her Mother's Half Sister In The Newly Discovered Land Called America And She Waited Until The Cover Of Night To Sneak Back Into The Only Home That She Knew To Find That Everything Was Either Taken Or Destroyed. She Went To The Hearth, Slid A Stone Loose, And Reached In To Take The Precious Little The Village Had Left. Duncan Wallace Was Studying To Become A priest Under Nathanial Dearborne And He Fought With All That Was In Him To Save The Girl Who Had Stolen His Heart When She Boldly told the Villagers That She Had Done Nothing Wrong, But There Were Too Many Men Holding Him Down And As He Struggled With Them He Saw Nathanial's Bony And Aged Finger Indicating That The Lever Should Be Pulled To Hang Two Innocent Women. He Heard The Snap Of Their Neck's And He Shuddered In Horror At The Glee In His Mentor's Eyes. By All That Was Holy, Duncan Knew That The Hanging Was Wrong And As He Took A Dull Knife, He Cut The Girl Down From The Filthy Rope, He Told His Mentor That He Was Leaving His Studies As Soon As He Gave The Women A Proper Burial, Nathanial Begged Him To Stay But He Wanted No Part Of This Senseless Hanging And When He Got To The Field Outside Of The Village He Couldn't Find The To Women Among The Stench And Decayed Bodies.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle: Here's my quick and dirty combo review for the set. ☺ ETERNITY: I am breathlessly wowed! I have read A LOT of Maggie Shayne books and have loved every single one, so hearing Maggie say that Eternity was "the single best novel I have ever written" both did and did not surprise me. After finishing the book though, I can sort of see where she's coming from... Wings in the Night will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I stand my assessment that The Portal series is epic. This book, however, is truly something special and will be one I will read way more than once. I can't wait to continue the Immortal Witches story with Infinity and am thrilled that I finally sat down to enjoy this work of art! INFINITY: Another amazing emotional and thrilling read by the talented Maggie Shayne! The story flows fast and strong and ferries along a complicated tale with a very satisfying ending. Very good indeed. DESTINY: Wonderful. Takes care of a lot of the series' past questions that characters that we've all been wondering about, brings true love to a beautiful culmination and then leaves us wanting more. This one has a lot of historical detail of an ancient civilization and some readers may not enjoy all of it. I found it fascinating! OVERALL: An absolutely amazing series and I can't wait for more. I know there is a fourth book out there somewhere and I'm hunting it down immediately. Highly recommended!
