Although the name Leslie Charteris appears on the cover of this book book it was written, as were many later Saint stories, by other authors. However, in the case of these two stories ir made little difference as they were both very enjoyable. The Pastor's Problem takes us through the back streets of London's Soho & Piccadilly & sees Simon Templar helping out an old friend in his own special way. In The Unsaintly Santa it appears that various murders taking place in Cambridge are being committed by Father Christmas. A most intriguing case for the famous Simon Templar. All in all these were two fun & frivolous tales that remind you that you can always count on the Saint!

Help For Those in Need and Christmas Curiosity Count on the Saint may not be a lot of reader's cuppa of tea. These two stories are adapted from comic strips to what we read here. The first is The Pastor's Problem where Simon tried to be helpful to a friend hailing from Franco's Spain. His church needs money so the Saint steals a chalice and has it stolen from him, that wasn't part of the plan. The mission: find out who took it and get it back. The Unsaintly Santa (aka The Santa Claus Murders) finds Simon in Cambridge tracking down the identity of a murderous Father Christmas. The gang of suspects are from the college world. Some action and more of a whodunit. Some Saint fans may not like this book. The Santa story does make up for the first one. As always, presented with blessing of Leslie Charteris. That has to say something.
