I don't often buy cookbooks these days, as it is often just as quick to Google a recipe you want. But there are certain recipe books that stand the test of time & this is one of them. I rarely make any chutneys or pickles that aren't a Digby Law recipe. Some of the late Mr Law's other books probably haven't stood the test of time so well - more high fat than we have now in these more health conscious times! This book has easy to follow directions, finds uses for unusual products like mountain paw paw & chokos & doesn't have any waste of space illustrations. In fact, other than the cover art it has no photos at all. I've just finished making his peach chutney & it looks very pretty in its jar & the sample I've tasted was delicious! I'm not going to include all of his recipes that I have successfully tried but I liked the apple chutney, the fresh fig chutney, the green tomato sauce (although I'll cut down the salt next time) & his brown pickled onions. My one criticism is Law's estimate of the total yield is always way off!

Can't rate until I've tasted the matured outcome of one of his recipes...... Later: The rhubarb chutney was tangy and tasty if a little sweet. A wide ranging collection of interesting recipes worth exploring further.
