A must have for Welles completists. In addition to seeing how his mind worked when putting together his celebrated and/or infamous takes on Shakespeare's Scottish play, Julius Caesar and the history plays that comprise Welles' "The Five Kings," a great deal of necessary context is provided by the editor and even Simon Callow's foreword. Loved it.

I do not mean to deceive: I have only read the introduction and Voodoo Macbeth script in this volume of three of Orson Welles stage scripts, so my four stars are for these pieces alone. The general introduction and the introduction to the MACBETH script have some minor errors, so France is not a careful scholar, but both are otherwise very informative, and while Welles's MACBETH is not nearly as great as Shakespeare's MACBETH, the script is nevertheless a fascinating document.
