Review # 1 was written on 2009-05-10 00:00:00 Andy Griggs In Growing Young, Rabey gracefully addresses major mid-life issues that many women face, such as one's changing appearance, intensified health requirements, menopause, changes in motherhood, marriage and sexuality, becoming a grandmother, caring for elderly parents, one's relationship with God, and looking both forward and back. Each topical chapter is introduced by a brief essay, then Rabey jots down thematically connected, yet distinct, anecdotal thoughts that read slightly like Proverbs. I enjoyed Growing Young. It is easy to read, yet some of Rabey's brief thoughts are very striking. It might be tempting to dismiss Growing Young as light, but I suspect I may review it again in the future to benefit here and there from the wisdom of a Christian woman who has gone before me. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-08-24 00:00:00 Gregory Lafontaine Amazing commentary on weight, women, and American society. Written in a style that is primarily conversational, it's an incredibly accessible work about the issues faced by women relating to their appearance and weight. |
