Review # 1 was written on 2017-02-09 00:00:00 Mike Cuomo It's an engaging and very frank portrait that Barron gives us, including something of herself. Not all is admirable in the Valley, and the author does not hesitate to criticize, again including herself. She has an excellent eye, a good ear, and a real interest in what she is exploring. I truly enjoyed the journey through the landscape, the history,and the people of the Napa Valley.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-07-23 00:00:00 Andrew Lemlyn Fundamental wine enthusiast reading about Zinfandel in California and its origins. Also covers history of Ridge Vineyards and other old vines sources. Includes several tips for wine tasting and keeping standards objective. My copy is heavily annotated, highlighted, and worn, loaned to many. There are more recent books, with greater scientific results, but none more interesting to read.
