Review # 2 was written on 2012-12-09 00:00:00 Even McCormack The more apt title would be Great Battlefields of the ANGLO-SAXON world. While the book does have some lovely displays and some interesting factoids regarding military equipment and tactics, the critical evaluation of the battles as 'great' is entirely lacking. The list of selections is also extremely weak and unjustified. Definitive battles like Stalingrad, Borodino, Leipzig, and many others are blatantly ignored; suggesting that this book was tailored very much to a pop-history audience. |
