I can't say it's a bad book, but Hinton rarely speaks of stereotypes -- he speaks more about social identification and categorisation. Sure, these are foundations of stereotypical notions, but I, personally, feel that he put too much effort on explaining the importance of categorisation than explaining why stereotypes exist. He does, however, explain the emergence and development of stereotypes in the first chapter, which is quite interesting, but if you're going to write a book about stereotypes, you should definitely write about stereotypes and focus on that instead of the social psychological process of identifying oneself as a par of a group, and then the group itself.

Ihan hyvän yleiskuvan sai streotypioista erinäisillä sosiaalisen käyttäytymisen ja ymmärtärämisen tasoilla.
