Review # 1 was written on 2014-01-31 00:00:00 Jason Antunez A useful further exploration of the 'grid of intelligibility' in the creation of race as a construct; fits in nicely with some of Stewart Hall's work on new ethnicities. Not every chapter was particularly interesting to me, however David Wellman's piece on Affirmative Action and Minstrel shows proved to be an excellent and timely reminder of exactly what white privilege is, particularly in a time where the phrase is thrown around so much that it's been rendered somewhat neutered/ easily dismissed |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-01-12 00:00:00 Chase Fenn This book was recommend in Susan Wise Bauer's Well-Trained Mind so I thought I'd check it out. Straight to the point. Outdated but good tips to ponder. |
