Review # 1 was written on 2013-08-05 00:00:00 Shaun Hutchinson This book on teaching composition was recommended to me by a colleague who teaches communication in the humanities. I am not fond of Ponsot's belief in inductive reasoning (i.e., not making concepts explicit beforehand), but like her idea of building on students' strengths and insistence on observation over inference. I will try to incorporate these latter strategies into my own teaching. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-12-25 00:00:00 Matthew Wellman THE classic book on teaching by one of our greatest poets. Marie Ponsot is an original and unfortunately largely unknown, even now as she's in her late 80s. |
