A super clear reading of ED's political and philosophical underpinnings/contributions from 1972. DL often writes ED off as "Cartesianized neo-Kantian"; at best "Hegelian." But perhaps his greatest sin was that he didn't engage with Marx enough. Interesting tangents: Durkheim's relationship with those developing Third Republic educational system; Mauss, Levi-Strauss, and Victor Turner; mutual incompatibility with Weber; ED's thoughts on socialism, corporatism, history, and reform. That's my take! *'Reading Rainbow' sound*

This book is a collection of papers on the subject of modern management theory. I read only the interstices -- the intros to each section which summarized the papers -- not the papers themselves. It just did not hold my interest.
