Review # 1 was written on 2016-09-05 00:00:00 Gregory Rowell Interesting enough and not too preachy. Counselling and counselling skills are delineated well, and it is a good point well made that though a few people become counsellors, anyone can use counselling skills. Basic practices such as listening well to those around you and trying to understand them without judgement - and most interestingly, to try and discover and clarify with them their theory of how their life works - these are not counselling specific at all. A brief amount of theory behind the practical advice as well, which was interesting as it gave a little context to the field. Not sure if I'd recommend to anyone. I think you need a prior interest. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-11-07 00:00:00 Jack Li This is geared more towards people that work in the area of psychiatry but I wanted to read the sections of the book around the mind and pain but as I can't just read part of the book I read the whole thing. A lot of the content was too complicated for me however. |
