Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-07 00:00:00 Tod Sears Festivals is a book of poetry about a plethora of festivals that go with a variety of cultures. This book has an excellent glossary in the back of the book explaining in detail each festival such as origin and dates celebrated. This could be used in a classroom multiple times during the year because you could read the poem for each festival during the time that that festival would take place. Then, you could discuss these festivals with the kids in your class and ask them what festivals (or holidays) they celebrate with their families. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-04-14 00:00:00 Anastasia Nikologianni While I am not typically a huge fan of poetry, Festivals is a great book for any teacher to have in their collection. Festivals covers a wide variety of holiday traditions and customs from around the world, using poetry to tell of a different celebrations. This book could be used to highlight different cultures and to help bridge the distances between students and the things they do not commonly experience. I forget who recommended it but, "thanks!" |
